The hardest ‘Project Runway’ challenges feature Heidi Klum as the client

Some of the most memorable "Project Runway" episodes have revolved around Heidi Klum doing double duty as both judge to client. Designing for Heidi is always hard, because she has very strong ideas about what she likes and doesn't like, and also has very high standards. Whether the designers are crafting a stunning look for Heidi to wear herself or creating looks for one Heidi's many clothing lines, these "Project Runway" challenges were filled with plenty of drama.

She looks as good as she smells

In Season 11, the designers were asked to create garments for Heidi to wear when she launched her new fragrance line. The stakes were high: One garment would be selected for Heidi to wear in the commercial for the fragrance, while a second garment would be worn by Heidi at a press event. Based on Heidi's input (as well as feedback from guest judge Kristin Davis), Kate and Daniel from Team Keeping It Real were selected as the winners of the challenge, while Cindy from the Dream Team was eliminated.

    Let's move some paper!

Back in Season 7, the designers had their shot to construct an outfit for Heidi to wear on the cover of Marie Claire's April 2010 issue. Anthony wowed Heidi with an asymmetrical, aquamarine dream of a minidress that had great structural elements. Anna got the boot: Her junior-inspired look was too "teeny bopper" to represent the Marie Claire reader.

    Striking a balance

In Season 8, the designers were asked to contribute looks that would be sold as part of Heidi's activewear line from New Balance. Only one look was supposed to be declared the winner (and subsequently sold online), but Heidi was so taken with Andy's entire collection that all three of his designs were declared winners and sold online. It wasn't such a good day for fellow designer Christoper, however; he got sent home.

    Once more, with feeling

The New Balance challenge was such a success in Season 8 that the judges brought it back for Season 9. This time around, the contestants had to please Heidi, their client, by pairing their designs with a New Balance sneaker. The episode was notorious for Cecillia's choice to withdraw from the competition, though that didn't keep Danielle from getting eliminated later on. The two winners were Joshua M. and Viktor, both of whom went on to the finale later that season.

    Baby crazy!

If you thought Heidi was picky when it came to her own clothes, you wouldn't believe how demanding she was when it came to clothing for children! The Season 10 episode "It's Fashion Baby" had the designers babysitting little dolls as they frantically tried to complete their looks for Heidi's Babies R Us clothing line. There were two winners: Christopher won the best design for the girl outfits, while Sonjia won for the boy outfits. Elena just couldn't wrap her head around this challenge and got the boot. (Muttering under her breath at the judges probably didn't help her case.)
