Heather Locklear’s Past Struggles

Heather Locklear

was recently hospitalized for "precautionary reasons" after an emergency call was placed from her home in Los Angeles.

The reasons behind Locklear's trip to the hospital were unclear. People magazine writes that "reports say she may have mixed alcohol and prescription medication." TMZ reports that a law enforcement official said Locklear took a "dangerous mix of prescription drugs and alcohol."

Locklear's parents released a statement in which they said their daughter, 50, is fine and "in no danger." It was Locklear's sister who called 911.

Locklear has been hospitalized before. In 2008, she sought treatment for psychological issues at an Arizona facility after she split from rocker Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. The two have a teenage daughter together. Locklear’s rep said that her client was “dealing with anxiety and depression” and was seeking “proper diagnosis and treatment.”

Several years ago, she was arrested for driving under the influence of prescription drugs. That charge was later dismissed after Locklear pleaded no contest to reckless driving. In 2011, Locklear and longtime boyfriend Jack Wagner broke off their engagement. Wagner told TMZ that the wedding planning was making it too difficult to spend time with their kids. Also, TMZ wrote, “Jack says he and Heather decided a blended family was not a good idea, because their kids were too young and it would be too disruptive.”

Locklear, perhaps most famous for her role on "Melrose Place," is expected to be released from the hospital sometime this weekend.
