Former My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee will play the lead in Second Sight, CBS‘ drama pilot from Michael Cuesta and Carol Mendelsohn. Based on the 2000 British series, Second Sight is described as a gothic psychological thriller about Tanner (Lee), the lead detective with the New Orleans Police Department who is concealing a troublesome secret — he has an ocular disorder that causes him to have horrifying and visually stimulating anxiety dreams and hallucinations. Told by his doctor that he will not go blind, he’s encouraged to think of the side effects as a gift — signposts from his subconscious. In the original series, the role was played by Clive Owen. Cuesta is directing the pilot from a script he wrote with his brother Gerald. Michael Cuesta, Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Paula Milne and Nick Reed exec produce. Following his starring turn on Earl, Lee toplined TNT’s offbeat dramedy Memphis Beat and recently recurred on Up All Night.
Rachelle Lefevre has been cast as the female lead opposite Mike Vogel and Dean Norris in Under The Dome, CBS’ 13-episode series from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin and Stephen King based on King’s bestselling 2009 novel. The drama is set in Chester’s Mill, a small New England town suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. Lafevre will play Julia, an investigative reporter who’s just moved to Chester’s Mill from Chicago with her husband. CBS TV Studios-produced Under The Dome is exec produced by Neal Baer, King, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and writer Brian K. Vaughan. Niels Arden Oplev will direct the first episode. The project reunites Lefevre’ with CBS, CBS Studios and showrunner Baer after co-starring in the 2012 series A Gifted Man.
