    Jimmy Kimmel Tapped to Host White House Correspondents' Dinner

    Jimmy Kimmel will get his shot at skewering President Obama and the Washtington elite.

    The ABC late night host will headline the 98th annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, part gala, part roast, which is scheduled for Sat., April 28. He joins an impressive roster of comics who have done the job before him, including Jay Leno, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart

    "I look forward to being a part of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. I love dinner," Kimmel quipped.

    In making the announcement, WHCA president and Reuters journalist Caren Bohan touted the Jimmy Kimmel Live host's "sophisticated and edgy" humor as well as his broad appeal, an attractive combo for a high profile, high pressure event attended by the President and First Lady as well as senior government officials.

    Last year's dinner, emceed by Saturday Night Live head writer Seth Meyers, drew even more attention than usual care of its timing: the day before Bin Laden was killed.
