Body of Proof stars John Carroll Lynch, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn will not return for the show's third season, but a new regular will join the series.
Lynch, who played police detective Bud Morris since the show's beginning, confirmed on Twitter that ABC did not pick up his option. According to TVLine, original cast members Sohn, who played Detective Sam Baker, and Bishop, who played investigator Peter Dunlop, are also goners.
The show's renewal came down to the wire, and the casting changes are likely due to budget cuts. While there's no word on what's next for Bishop and Sohn, Lynch may not be unemployed for long: He's slated to join NBC's new medical procedural Do No Harm, according to TVLine.

Although Lynch appeared in the NBC drama's pilot alongside Rescue Me's Steven Pasquale and Phylicia Rashad, the actor is taking things one step at a time. "I just want to clarify that I cannot confirm Do No Harm is going to have me on. But I can confirm that BOP did not pick up my option," he tweeted Wednesday night.
If Lynch were to join Do No Harm as a series regular, he would continue his role as the NA sponsor to Pasquale's character.
Body of Proof will add one new regular next season, a male sidekick for Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) who works in the medical examiner's office and spars with her, according to Deadline.
