Jorge Salinas of 'La Que No Podía Amar' Returns to a Hospital

Fans have been aware of Jorge Salinas' health problems for months, but his condition is now interfering with his ability to perform in "La Que No Podía Amar." Salinas, who plays Rogelio on the popular telenovela, has been forced to return to the hospital to monitor a clot in his lungs. Although Jorge Salinas continues to insist that the latest hospital stay is a routine checkup, fans are still concerned.

    Previous Health Problems

Jorge Salinas suffered serious health problems in 2011. He was hospitalized with pneumonia, and his wedding to Elizabeth Alvarez was in jeopardy. In addition, he had cardiovascular problems associated with his illness that made the treatment more complicated. Salinas was hospitalized multiple times for his pneumonia while many fans feared he would not survive. However, he was able to recover and marry Alvarez in October 2011.

His Role in "La Que No Podía Amar"

In "La Que No Podía Amar," Salinas portrays a man who suffers a serious accident that leaves him paralyzed. As Rogelio, he has spent most of the production in a wheelchair. Some fans questioned his decision to choose a role that contradicted greatly with his previous acting experiences. Since many of his past roles were athletic, Rogelio is a sharp contrast. However, his health problems may provide an explanation for his decision. Playing Rogelio does not require a great deal of physical exertion, so it may be the perfect role for a man recovering from lung problems.

    Hiding His Health Problems

Despite his ongoing health problems, nothing has been visible on "La Que No Podía Amar." Jorge Salinas has done an excellent job of hiding his condition on the screen from fans. Although he continues to battle lung problems, he never seems out of breath or gasping for air. Some of the credit may need to be shared with the production team, but Salinas has made an effort to continue filming.

    A Dangerous Habit

Jorge Salinas has been advised to quit smoking, but has refused to give up this dangerous habit. Although it has not affected his ability to shoot "La Que No Podía Amar" for most of the show, his smoking could have contributed to the clot found in his lungs. Salinas has missed a limited amount of taping for the show, but smoking continues to threaten his overall health. It seems that this is one habit Salinas is not able to kick.
