Earlier this season on 2 Broke Girls, Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs) realized their dream of owning a cupcake shop. That dream quickly became a nightmare when they ran out of cash and couldn't pay the rent. The cherry on top? A car came careening through the store's front window. But in Monday's season finale (9/8c, CBS) the girls may get a second chance. That's if they're still speaking to each other.
TV Guide Magazine: To prepare for a health inspection, Han [Matthew Moy] pays the girls to clean out the diner. What do they find?
Beth Behrs: Um, disgust? [Laughs] It's gross! But they do discover something that contributes to their future and the cupcake business. It's a pretty big reveal at the end of the episode.
TV Guide Magazine: Were you bummed when their business went bust?
Kat Dennings: [Cocreator] Michael Patrick King planned on them failing from the start, because two girls with no money and no experience opening a business in New York City are going to fail — unless you're a unicorn. He also wanted viewers to see the roles reversed: Caroline became the one who was a cynic and Max had to motivate her. It was a good thing for the girls.
TV Guide Magazine: But something happens in the finale that could break up these besties.
Behrs: Max and Caroline have a huge fight. There's a moment where their differences come back again, in a deeper way.
Dennings: It's a husband-and-wife relationship — that's how I look at it. Still, no matter what they do, they're destined for greatness. That I know.
TV Guide Magazine: Has it gotten easier to say some of the raunchier things in the scripts?
Dennings: I am kind of a shy person, so having to say things about penises and whatnot in front of a live audience was a little mortifying at first. [Laughs] But now I actually enjoy it!
