Kate Middleton is absolutely the new incarnation of the "People's Princess." Her mix of high and low fashion, sense of color and trendsetter appeal has the world tuning in daily to see what she'll be wearing next. It's been a year since the Duchess snagged her very own Prince Charming, but she still seems to make headlines more often than Prince William.
However, this week, for Kate and all of the other royals, it is all about Queen Elizabeth II. It's the queen's Diamond Jubilee! That's right QE2 has been the ruling monarch of England and her related territories for 60 years. Today, Kate's mother-in-law is more beloved than ever.
While Kate makes headlines overseas, America's favorite "love to hate her" reality TV princess Kim Kardashian is in hot media pursuit. Kate had the royal nuptials and KK had "Kim's Fairytale Wedding." Of course, Kim's 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries can't be compared to the built to last love affair that Duchess Catherine seems to be having with her man William.
Although Kate and Kim are of no comparison when it comes to matters of the heart, they both are fashionistas. When Kate wears something it usually sells out within 24 hours. For Kim's part, her fashion game includes Dash clothing stores, the Kardashian Kiosk in Las Vegas and, of course, the Kardashian Kollection at Sears.
It seems that Kim and Kate would never be seen at the same type of event much less be caught in the same look, but it has happened. Yesterday Kate was seeing red for the day's Diamond Jubilee festivities in London. She stepped out in a head-turning Alexander McQueen dress and matching hat. She looked effortlessly flawless as usual.
Unfortunately, Kate wasn't the first one to wear this McQueen dress. Kimmie K. rocked the scarlet frock last August in NYC. At that time she was still happily Mrs. Humphries. In contrast to Kate's version, Kim's dress was a sleeveless affair.Kim also opted for snakeskin platforms while Madam Middleton kept it classy in nude pumps.
This wasn't Kate's first fashion almost run-in with Lady Kim. Earlier this year, Kim made a special 30th birthday video for Princess Kate. It basically said, "Happy birthday, Kate. Buy my shoes." Kim had designed a special pair of shoes for the princess under her Shoe Dazzle brand.
So did Kate ever buy the shoes Kim made just for her? If she did, the royals aren't telling. No one knows for sure, but we suspect that Kim and Mama Kardashian, Kris Jenner, wouldn't be able to keep it quiet if she did.
So what do you think of Kate vs. Kim in the red Alex McQueen dress. Who wears it better? Is it a look better suited for the wife of the future King of England? Or, is the dress best for an American Reality TV Queen?
What do you think?
Which "princess" do you think has better fashion sense, Kim or Kate? Do you wear the Kardashian Kollection? Do you think that the Duchess of Cambridge minds being compared to Kim K?
