Kate's Week: Keeping Pace with the Duchess of Cambridge

When asked how she was adjusting to life as a royal, the initial response from the Duchess of Cambridge was, "Well, it's been very busy."

Though the much-admired Duchess hastened to add that her new life is "great fun" and that she's "very well looked after," her whirlwind week of official engagements is proof that being a "working royal" is, in fact, work. After a short post-Jubilee break, Catherine (formerly Kate Middleton) has resumed her busy schedule, making half a dozen public appearances in as many days.

From what she wore to what she said, here's a look at Kate's most recent appearances and what's next on her royal agenda.

Monday, June 18 - Order of the Garter Ceremony

Looking lovely in white, Kate stood with the Countess of Wessex and the Duchess of Cornwall to watch the Order of the Garter procession at Windsor Castle. Wearing her white Alexander McQueen coat from last year's Trooping the Color parade, the Duchess of Cambridge paired it with her white Reiss dress from last year's Ascot and her trademark L.K. Bennett nude heels. She finished off her ensemble with new Jane Corbett hat and clutch purse.

Sunday, June 17 - Charity Camping Trip and Polo Match

Dressing down for a change, the Duchess sported jeans and Wellies while visiting students on a school camping trip. After the children showed Kate their tents, she sat by the fire while they cooked food and asked questions about her life. When one student asked about her married life, Kate gushed about her husband, saying "William is sweet and kind of spoils me." Later that day, Kate and puppy Lupo joined William at a charity polo event, where the two laughed and doted on their beloved dog.

Saturday, June 16 - Trooping the Color Ceremony and Parade

Kate opted for a light blue Erdem dress and matching Jane Corbett hat for the annual Trooping the Color parade, which marks the Queen's official birthday. While Prince William participated on horseback, the Duchess rode in an open carriage with Prince Harry and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Later, the entire royal family appeared together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where they watched the Royal Air Force flyover.

Friday, June 15 - Theater with The Art Room

On Friday, Kate stepped out solo to support The Art Room, one of her official charities. The Duchess accompanied 150 children to a stage production of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" in Kensington Gardens near her London home. Looking relaxed and happy, the "High Street Princess" wore a blue dress from the popular chain store Zara, as well as a black coat and black heels.

Wednesday, June 13 - Visit to Nottingham with the Queen

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge both accompanied the Queen to Nottingham on the latest leg of her Jubilee tour. Re-wearing the blue M by Missoni coat dress from her March visit to Fortnum and Mason, Kate completed her ensemble with black L.K. Bennett heels, a black purse, and the navy blue Rachel Trevor-Morgan hat from last year's visit to the Irish Guards.

An onlooker weighed in on meeting the Duchess, saying "Kate was lovely. She was not quite as tall, and also not quite as thin as I expected." It also seems that the future Queen is a bit talkative. Said a witness, "Kate was extremely chatty with everyone she met, and they got delayed a few times because of this, which was quite funny."

    Upcoming Engagements

With Royal Ascot running through June 23, it's likely that the beloved Duchess will make at least one appearance at the races. Also on her calendar is a trip to Scotland on July 5, when the Queen will induct Prince William into the Order of the Thistle. Later this fall, the couple will make their official Jubilee tour to the South Pacific, visiting Malaysia, Singapore, the Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu.
