Katherine Heigl 'Sometimes' Sorry She Left 'Grey's Anatomy': 'I Miss It'

Katherine Heigl admitted on Monday that - at times -- she regrets having left "Grey's Anatomy."

"Oh yeah, sometimes," she said on Monday's "The View," when Barbara Walters asked the "One for the Money" actress if she was sorry she left the ABC drama.

"You miss it -- I miss it," Katherine continued as she cuddled daughter Naleigh, who earlier ran up on stage and decided to join her mom's interview. "I miss my friends. It was a great work environment in that we all got along really well, and it becomes a family. I spent six years with these people every day... We grew up in a way."

Katherine said she has not been asked back yet to play Dr. Izzie Stevens, a role she left in 2010, but she would be willing to rejoin the fold.

"I think that for me, it's sort of... I want them to know that I'm down with it if they want me to, but I completely understand if it doesn't necessarily work into [the story]," she said. "They've got a lot of storylines going on there."

The actress had a headline-raising run during her time on "Grey's," including in 2008, when she withdrew her name from Emmy contention, telling the Los Angeles Times' Gold Derby at the time, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention."

She also told USA Today in 2010, after she left "Grey's," that she had started to dislike her character before her departure.

"I felt very protective of Izzie. I really loved her," Katherine told the paper in June 2010. "I felt she was an admirable woman who certainly made mistakes. But I was starting to not like her, and that bothered me."

She's still likely making more money per movie than you do in a year, so cry for her if you must!

I hope they don't bring her back there is no need for her character anymore. She is a mediocre actress her movies aren't good tv was where she belonged. try Private Practice if you must return to give Izzie closure

Heigl has her head on straight and calls it accurately. She was right about her work in Grey's not being good enough the year she withdrew her name from running. The writers had given Izzie had annoying verbal ticks and ridiculous story lines, that Heigl sold, but the writing was subpar. She was right about Apatow's movie having the women behave like grown-ups and the men like adolescent boys. She's a good actress and I'd gladly tune in if she came back to Grey's. Duly noted this year, that Grey's says "created by Shonda Rimes" (like Jenji Kohan does for Weeds) and the writer staff is keeping the characters grounded in some kind of reality. Whatever changes they made to exec. mgmt. and writing, it works. Now would be an excellent time for Izzie to come back.

Thank you!! I'm so tired of everyone leaving nasty little comments about her. If you do not like her, then why bother reading an article about her and then taking the time to reply?! I happen to like her and her acting!! I was sad when she left Grey's. It has not been the same since. It's still a great show, but it just lacks that one down to earth woman. No offense "Kepner".

She's great and she makes really good romantic comedies, which I normally don't like that type of movie. I also like how she speaks her mind, and doesn't play the normal Hollywood games. Her movie career is going quiet well also... last time I checked she is steadily making movies...

Sorry #$%$ they will never take you back. How quickly we forget our arrogance and disrespect. Same thing happened with Megan Fox. Where's her movie career now? As if she could act to begin with. LOL

I like Heigl's acting. "Knocked up" was hilarious. The only thing I don't agree with her is adopting children from other countries. If your an American, take pride in your country because there are plenty of AMERICAN children that need to be adopted first.

So adopt one. But let people do what the hell they want.

        Sorry you missed my point.

Her sister is adopted from Korea as well. She wanted to honour that.

She's had more success and made more money in several years than all you haters will in 20 lifetimes...
    • Craven Moorehead  •  4 months ago
She once said she regretted doing "Knocked Up" because of the way it portrayed women. Funny though because she garnered more nominations from that movie than ANYTHING else she's done.

Arrogance + Greed + Poor acting = Reality.
She blew it and now wants back !!! Fat chance !
