Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries' Divorce Trial Set for May, Judge Rules

Kim Kardashian is one very big step closer to severing her ties from estranged husband Kris Humprhies once and for all. On Friday (Feb. 15), a judge ruled that the former couple's divorce trial will begin May 6, with all parties required to be present for the proceedings.

It's certainly not the ending that NBA star Humphries, 27, has long sought. After Kardashian, 32, filed for divorce in October 2011 following just 72 days of marriage, Humphries countered with annulment based on fraud -- with the trial suffering multiples delays over the past year and a half.

Earlier in the day on Friday, Humphries' attorney Marshall Waller quit, citing an "irremediable breakdown of the attorney-client relationship." Although she had hoped for a much earlier trial start date, Kardashian's attorney Laura Wasser was elated with the judge's ruling and accepted congrats from present members of the media.

Kardashian, meanwhile, has other things on her mind this year, of course: She's currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Kanye West, and recently sold her Beverly Hills home.

"It's sad Kris is playing this game," a Kardashian source said in Us Weekly's Jan. 28 issue. "Kim doesn't think he can be happy until he moves on."
