Kristen Stewart Chases the Beat in Moody, Sexy 'On the Road' Trailer

The first U.S. trailer for Walter Salles' film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's cult classic novel On the Road has been released.

Set to the kind of jazzy, percussive music that gave the Beat Generation its name, the preview offers no dialogue. Rather we get rapid cuts over which star Sam Riley, who plays the film's Keroauc-inspired narrator, recites one of the book's most famous passages.

Glimpses of the all-star cast, including Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Kirsten Dunst and Terrence Howard, are sprinkled throughout the moody, sexy preview, full of Eric Gautier's gorgeous cinematography.

Reviewing the film after its Cannes debut, The Hollywood Reporter chief film critic Todd McCarthy wrote, "[Salles] has done a respectable job of it, and at moments better than that, though the film rarely busts out to provide the sort of heady pleasures it depicts.
