Leah Remini is making moves -- again! On the heels of leaving the Church of Scientology in early July, the King of Queens star is now stepping out onto the dance floor in the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, sources confirm to Us Weekly. (TMZ was first to break the news.)
The actress even hinted at the latest project to Us while attending the 15th Annual DesignCare benefit in Malibu on July 27. "I'm deciding to do something right now and we'll know in the next week," she teased. "It will be television. It might be in the reality, sitcom world." She also told Us at the event that she'll be writing a tell-all memoir about leaving Scientology.
Remini, 43, made major headlines earlier this summer when she decided to make a "dramatic" exit from the religion back in July. "I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my colleagues, and from fans around the world," Remini told Us in a statement at the time. "I am truly grateful and thankful for all your support."
Since her not-so-quiet departure, the outspoken actress went on to file a missing person's report with the LAPD department for Scientology leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly on Aug. 8. The case was dropped hours later after the LAPD confirmed Shelly wasn't missing after all.
Remini's stint on the dancing competition will be yet another new chapter for the star, whose ABC series Family Tools was also officially cancelled in May.
Dancing with the Stars Season 17 premieres Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
