The last few years have been rough for Lindsay Lohan. After multiple stints in rehab, legal troubles, and an incident where she allegedly stole a necklace, she has seen a slump in her career. Though it appears unlikely that she will ever have the career that she once had, she has landed a few spots including a guest spot on "Glee" and the lead role of Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime movie "Liz and Dick." Still, her casting as Elizabeth Taylor has garnered some attention and some criticism.
In particular, there has been some criticism by Rosie O'Donnell. She said publicly that she didn't think Lindsay was ready to be acting again. "She's had a lot trouble doing every single movie including SNL. She was out and not at rehearsal, and I think she's not in a place to work," Rosie said.
Rosie also said that "the last thing she did good, she was 16," which ignited some controversy. As for her playing Elizabeth Taylor, "I don't think she's right for the role, and I don't think she's capable at this point."
In response, Lindsay Lohan was classy and said "It's funny that someone you don't know at all can say something so intrusive and so knowing." Lohan was also supportive of Rosie saying that she had always thought fondly of her. Lindsay's mom and dad both defended her career, as well. Rosie responded by saying that Lindsay still needs help and working isn't going to make her magically better.
So, how did this become labeled as a feud in the first place? Rosie O'Donnell is often over the top, and she doesn't always say things eloquently. However, her comments here are an opinion, and they appear to be sincere, even caring. In fact, this hardly seems like a feud at all. If someone else had said the same thing, would this even be a topic of discussion? Admittedly, Rosie's history doesn't help. Rosie had a very public feud with Donald Trump, which paints her as someone who argues often and isn't afraid to fight about an issue. However, this can also be seen as a celeb who speaks her mind in an industry where almost no one does. She doesn't hold back, and that leads to these feud allegations.
However, this seems to be a story of the media fabricating a feud. Yet, it's funny because this will continue to benefit Lohan as it places her back in the spotlight. If she does quality work, the results could be excellent for her career, but it could also be negative if she runs into some of her old issues.
