Does S. Victor Whitmill know about this? After all, the tattoo artist got a little antsy the last time a jokester put on the Mike Tyson tribal tattoo.
Apparently the tat dispute from "The Hangover Part II" — in which Ed Helms' character sported similar markings — didn't scare off Matt Lauer from pulling the same gag on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
When host Jimmy Fallon probed his guest about the faux ink job, the "Today" co-host said, "I'm sorry I don't want to talk about it." He blamed the extreme look on a bad cell phone connection with a "Late Night" producer.
"I thought he said, 'It's Mike Tyson night tonight.' So I went downtown...and got this," he said. "This will wear off in six weeks."
The on-your-face look was a good investment: Lauer apparently buddied up with Tyson backstage for a double tat photo. (Oooo, Facebook pic!) The "Today" show co-host will be heading to London soon to cover the Olympics. Maybe he can switch up to a mascot tattoo.
