Finally, something Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon can both agree on. Neither particularly likes FBI Special Agent Susan Darcy (Catherine Dent), who is set to butt heads with the characters on a November episode of "The Mentalist." She is set to play an intelligent agent who tries to hide her own mind to get what she wants.
The seasoned agent is extremely assertive. Darcy will ruffle feathers when she takes over one of Lisbon and Jane's cases. Since neither likes to share their cases with others, it will be a battle fans won't want to miss. With Darcy appearing on multiple episodes, it will be fun to see if she can win over Jane and Lisbon. Odds are, if Lisbon is annoyed, Jane will love her and vice versa.
With Lisbon and Jane working together again, Jane is on a tight leash. Lisbon is trying to do everything she can to stay within the rules. Darcy may just push her far enough to forget about obeying them. After all, it is Lisbon's case, not Darcy's. At the moment, Special Agent Darcy is only temporary. However, the character may be revisited in future episodes when a liaison with the FBI is needed. With all the turmoil the CBI has faced recently, having outside assistance could be the best thing for them. With CBI Director Gail Bertram still a possible suspect as Red John or one of Red John's informants, outside help may keep the team safe and help find new clues in the case.
Catherine Dent is not new to crime dramas. She is best known for her role on "The Shield" as Officer Danny Sofer. This is her longest stint playing the same character. However, Dent has made numerous other television appearances. Some of her most recent include Former NCIS Special Agent Whitney Sharp on "NCIS," Laura Bradley on the paranormal series "Ghost Whisperer," and Paula Berry on "Breakout Kings." Some Catherine Dent fans will remember her from guest roles on "Frasier" as Claudia Kynock, "Nash Bridges" as Tara Browning, and "Judging Amy" as Connie Barrett.
Dent's first appearance on "The Mentalist" is scheduled to air on CBS Nov. 3 at 10 p.m. E.T. Further appearances have yet to be listed, but at least two episodes will feature her this season.
