It didn't take long for "How I Met Your Mother" to shake things up. In somewhat of a surprise, Barney and Quinn's engagement came to an end in just the second episode of the season. It turns out that a pre-nup not only forced the two to examine their relationship, but forced the other couples to do the same. However, future Ted mentions early in the episode that one couple would break up by the next day. It turns out that that the engaged couple was the one to bit the dust. Here's a recap of the latest episode of "How I Met Your Mother."
Barney's pre-nupAfter talking to one of his co-workers, Barney realizes that he needs to get Quinn to sign a pre-nup. Obviously, that's a delicate situation to begin with. However, Barney's outrageous requests make it that much worse. For example, he instituted a fine for every pound that Quinn gains. In addition, he required that her breasts increase in size every five years. An upset Quinn shares the stories with the girls, and they encourage her to come up with her own outrageous agreement. Among her demands include a shock collar to prevent Barney's wandering eyes, only this one would go around a body part below his neck. Eventually, Barney's lawyer mentions the importance of love.
It looks like Barney and Quinn are ready to throw away their legal documents, but neither can do it. They both admit that getting married shouldn't be this hard, and that they don't really trust each other. That marks the end of their romance, and Barney informs the guys that he learned that he can never trust anyone enough to get married. However, the scene flashes forward to Barney talking about his wedding to Robin. He informs his lawyer that he won't need a pre-nup for this one.
The rest of the gangAfter the fallout of Barney's pre-nup, the other three couples examine certain things in their relationships. Up first is Marshall, who is upset that Lily doesn't seem to trust the way he plays with the baby. Meanwhile, Ted and Victoria argue over the fact that her frequently nude ex-flame Klaus is living in Ted's apartment (an offer initiation by Ted). Lastly, Nick is hurt that Robin watches TV during sex. Of course, it turns out that Robin is watching herself on the news.
Eventually, everyone shows up at Barney's pre-nup meeting. After hearing the lawyer's speech about love, they all resolve their differences. Lily admits that she has trust issues because her father wasn't there for her but that she knows Marshall isn't that same guy. Nick decides that he is perfectly OK with Robin watching herself on TV during sex, and the two leave in a hurry. Meanwhile, Victoria and Ted resolve their differences about Klaus. However, the episode ends with the three of them watching a German TV show. Once again, Klaus is naked.
