Michelle & Jim Bob Duggar Expecting 20th Child

The Duggars have their 20th child on the way!

"19 Kids and Counting" stars Michelle and Jim Bob will welcome their next child in the spring, People reported.

"We are so excited," the Duggar mother, 45, who is three-and-a-half months along, told the mag. "I feel good. I am past the sickness stage now."

The couple's most recent child, Josie, born on Dec. 10, 2009, is doing well after being born premature at just 25 weeks.

"It is a miracle. Josie is the most energetic, busy little almost-2-year-old," Michelle told the mag. "She is short, and yet she can keep up with the big girls and she thinks she is just as big as they are. We are amazed at what she can do."

According to dad Jim Bob, his wife is doing better than ever.

"Michelle is probably in better health now than she was 10 years ago," the 46-year-old said. "She has been getting on an elliptical for about an hour a day and is very careful of what she eats."

During her last pregnancy, the Duggar mother was diagnosed with preeclampsia and is now under the care of a high-risk pregnancy doctor. She is eating very healthy with plenty of protein, vegetables and skipping the caffeine - along with getting plenty of rest.

"We are just going to do the best we can," she explained. "I am taking a nap every day, and we are just taking good care."

Jim Bob added, "If we had lived by fear after Michelle had preeclampsia after her second delivery, we would have missed out on all our wonderful blessings. So many of her pregnancies have gone extremely well."

One aspect of their latest pregnancy that will be different is Michelle's first scheduled C-section.

"I've never had a planned C-section," Michelle told the mag. "So this one will be different."

In addition to their youngest daughter Josie, the couple is also parents to Joshua, 23 (who has two children, Mackynzie, 2 and Michael, 4 months, with wife Anna, 23), twins Jana and John-David, 21; Jill, 20; Jessa, 19; Jinger, 17; Joseph, 16; Josiah, 15; Joy-Anna, 14; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 12; Jason, 11; James, 10; Justin, 8; Jackson, 7; Johanna, 6; Jennifer, 4; and Jordyn, 3.

The season finale of "19 Kids and Counting" airs tonight at 9 PM on TLC.

Check out the Bangor Daily News article called, "Winterport Siblings Recall the Blessings of Being Raised among 17 Children" that was posted today, Dec. 5, 2011! It is a GREAT read!! It shows how children that worked hard enjoyed it and are happy as adults. That proves that the Duggars are not off base after all! :) The mother died at the nice ripe old age of 89.

Is it sad that although I whole heartedly agree they should stop, (Your kids shouldnt be younger than ur grandkids.) Im kind of glad they are having number 20..its a better number to stop on than 19..more even!

At least they are nice Christian people, and seem to have a well structured family.
      • noone 6 months ago
Sure, as long as they're Christians, let them overpopulate and be irresponsible. If they were atheists or Jews or heaven forbid Muslim, then they should stop at two.

Groucho Marx to a contestant on You Bet Your Life, 1947:

Groucho: "How many children do you have?"

      Mrs. Story: "Nineteen, Groucho."

Groucho: "Nineteen?! Why do you have so many children? It must be a terrible responsibility and a burden."

Mrs. Story: "Well, because I love my children and I think that's our purpose here on Earth; and I love my husband."

Groucho: "I love my cigar, too, but I take it out of my mouth once in a while!"

I wish their family the best, but I don't see how they can give each child the proper amount of individual attention that children need. The kids don't even have their own initials to give them individuality.

Not only that, the older kids have to help looking after the younger ones. What kind of a childhood is that? What about education? Who will pay for their College tuition if they want to become something other than breeders like their pareants. I really feel sorry for those kids to be stuck with such two selfish parents.

AveMarie whatever----I have worked in politics for 45 years and have never heard any Republicans who wanted to overturn Roe vs Wade --- yeah, of course the candidates use it to win votes but no sane person would do that------far too many of us remember the days of butcher knives and coat hangers before abortion was legal and for decades Americans have been having kids they wish they did not have and the baby boomers kids are torchering and murdering their kids like reproducing rabbits. They have no parenting skills and are horribly abusive and are doing unspeakable things to their kids. LIving in an Ostrich Nation state of mind and refusing to see the truth is the greatest thing that is bringing down our once great Nation.

When you require the first eight or ten kids to raise the remaining dozen how does that make you a good parent? Ask the middle 10 kids if they really like doing laundry 6 hours a day or if they like working the soup kitchen all day. It's unfair to the kids to turn them into dorm students just so mom and dad can have a tv show. If mom would have to take care of all those kids she would have stopped around 4 or 5. If dad would have to finance all those kids he also would have stopped earlier.

Anonymous states:"Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar aren't charged property taxes on their home and the 20-acres it sits on! They made their home a church. Churches are tax exempt. A quick name search of Washington County, Arkansas online tax info shows a 20-acre Duggar owned property with a tax bill of $0.00." Put this with the fact that they are getting, at the least $55,500 in federal tax deductions in 2011. ($3,700 per child thru federal dependent deductions on their taxes). I went to the Washington County, Arkansas tax site and sure enough Anonymous is telling the truth.
