"The Millionaire Matchmaker" is back in Los Angeles this season. The fact that even love guru Patti Stanger couldn't hack it in NYC should offer a weird mix of reassurance, solace and validation for single New York daters. See, it's not just you.
We've met Patti's millionaires this season and so far they do not disappoint. The women are equally as fun to watch. After all, they are in Hollywood where the people are blonder and Botox-ier than ever. Seeing women who are at a mixer with the sole purpose of scoring a sugar daddy to love chant virtuously, "No sex before monogamy" never gets old. As a dating advice maven I'm not knocking the honesty of the situation. As grandma said, "it's just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man." Granny obviously didn't see the crop of rich, available men who are actually interested in a long term committed relationship with a real, live, walking, talking, thinking woman.
So far this season the millionaires have included a real live prince, a comedic Groupon puppeteer, a Hugh Hefner wannabe, an East Coast web mogul and a jet setting gentleman turned cursing, vulgar Italian. Tori Spelling has also been in the house that Patti built.
If you don't watch, don't ask. But you are watching so in that spirit we will offer periodic "Millionaire Matchmaker" updates. You watched them looking for love. We know that you care deeply what happened next.
Millionaire Matches: Where Are They Now
Gary & Bonnie
Gary Mancuso owns a dating website named EliteMate.com. He says that when he agreed to appear on the show he had never seen a full episode. He plays matchmaker to shy daters from his site at his own mixers and was looking forward to being in the opposite position. He says that he did not find love on the show but admits that he let his "penis do the picking." He hung out with Bonnie after the show but is still single and has no regrets.
David & Stephanie
David Mezheritsky, owner of GIObikes.com, is somewhat jaded about dating in Los Angeles. He sees it all as plastic women with plastic bodies creating an illusion-- and he wants in. Patti introduces him to Tori Spelling as an example of a woman who could play both happy homemaker and brilliant marketer meets entrepreneur. He was shocked. Apparently the chauvinistic David never knew such a creature could exist. He puts in the sexy-time with his classy pick Stephanie. Yikes. His search for love continues and David invites all comers and potential romantic candidates to "friend him on facebook."
Brandon & Jacklyn
Creole cutie Brandon Broussard tells Patti that he enjoys "a little bit of color" and she sets off on a search for Halle Berry meets Kim Kardashian. Patti seems to genuinely like Brandon. He strangely brings out the softer side of her. Brandon snags the gorgeous Jacklyn and they hit the air for a daredevil style date in the skies. Brandon made his money on the "Barack the Vote" t-shirts that everyone was wearing last election. He also own a web TV business named PurpleStuff TV. Although the end tags for the show claimed he was "madly in love" Brandon and Jacklyn have no plans to see each other ever again.
And so it goes in the world of Millionaire Matchmaker! More updates and scandalous missed connections to come. Happy dating!
