Maura West won two Emmy awards in her role as Carly Tenney in "As The World Turns." That soap opera closed in September 2010. Maura moved to Genoa City in the guise of Diane Jenkins, becoming the third person to play the part since 1996. Fans met the latest Diane in early October 2010.Victor and Diane have had quite a bit of fussing and feuding since their marriage. Nikki will not stay away and Nick has interfered with the relationship. The lawsuit, judgment, greed and hostility resulted in a tearing down of Genoa City's biggest business holdings. The last thing the community and fans needed was another big blowup.
What a surprise to see Victor pack a rolling suitcase for Diane and throw her out. It really does not matter whether Maura West was popular with the fans as Diane or merely a wrong choice. She has no money, no car, no home and one of the richest men in the world just tossed her out the door. How did you feel about that scene? She has tears in her eyes and asks where she will go. Victor's attitude is uncaring and he tells Diane that. She strikes out at him and indicates that while he was cheating with Nikki she may have found comfort of her own. Of course, Victor already thinks that Diane was unfaithful.
The rumor is that Maura did not strike the same spark with "Young and the Restless" fans that she did as Carly in "As The World Turns." Speculation is that Diane Jenkins Newman is permanently gone, as is Maura West's short-lived career with this soap.
Meanwhile Billy Abbot, played by Billy Miller, also appears to be leaving Genoa City. His contract ends this summer and negotiations have stalled. Miller has been with the show since 2008. With his good looks, clean cut and classy garb, he is a cut above some of the other stars we have to look at. Money is a problem for everyone and it just seems to ruin many of our favorite shows lately.
Billy is the son of (deceased) John Abbot and Jill Abbot. He has three siblings, Jack Abbott, Ashley and Tracy. He is the father of Delia and Lucy Abbott, the baby girl he bought from the black market for Victoria, who cannot have more children. Fans love Billy and want him there.
