Look for things to get "crazy like a fox" with Michael J. Fox returning to "The Good Wife" in a recurring role as Louis Canning. Irritating, intelligent, likeable and legal Fox was nominated for an Emmy based on his performance during "The Good Wife" Season 2.
Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Lockhart/Gardner has gone head to head against Fox's character Canning in two very different trials. After defending a company that was accused of committing horrible acts of mental and emotion abuse of their employees, a tact that was supposed to save them money but in the long run cost them the lives of several employees and millions of dollars in a hefty settlement package.
Deciding that appearing in the courtroom in Chicago appealed to him, Canning moved his family to Chicago set up his own firm and took on Lockhart/Gardner and Alicia one more time. But he didn't stop there; he offered Alicia a job with his firm, which of course she turned down. While she may admire his legal abilities in the courtroom, her loyalty is legendary. She also questions his methods in and out of the courtroom, even wondering if he was going so far as to use his neurological condition to create sympathy for a client. But these are lawyers, isn't all far in and out of the courtroom? Despite her thoughts on his methods, there is no way would she leave the firm, especially now that it looks like her heart's desire both personally and professional is within reach.
"We're absolutely thrilled that Michael has agreed to play this role," said executive producers and show creators Robert and Michelle King. "His intelligence as an actor, combined with his incredible comic timing will really bring this smart, cynical lawyer to life."
The producers and creators aren't the only ones thrilled about Fox's reappearance. In the twitter-verse fans comment "I love Michael J. Fox," and "Glad he is returning to 'The Good Wife'."
Fox will be appearing in "three or four episodes" and this time round may even win that Emmy that he lost out on last year against Paul McCrane of "Harry's Law."
Look for these guest stars during the upcoming season of "The Good Wife": Monica Raymund (as possible love interest for Cary?), Parker Posey, and Lisa Edelstein, who may be the newest in a round of third wheels between Alicia and Will (Josh Charles) not to mention the one person who may know where Will's secrets are buried. The most recently cast guest star? Eddie Izzard will be her opposing council in the episode The Death Zone as the firm heads "across the pond" virtually, when a case is tried via satellite in a British courtroom.
Need a little teaser before the season premiere? Josh Charles appeared on CBS "The Talk" and shares" Wait a couple of weeks, it's going to keep deepening all the characters, the relationships move forward and get more complicated, and there are some surprises in the premiere episode."
