Whether you are enjoying this season of "American Horror Story: Asylum" or still getting into it, it's hard to deny the abundance of shocks so far. In Season 1, there was a high level of crazy, but Season 2 has overtaken it in spades already. Let's take a look at the most shocking events in Season 2 so far.
The possession of a teenager
In Season 2, Episode 2, a teenage boy was admitted to Briarcliff. The boy was believed to be possessed by a demon, and an exorcism was performed. The scenes of such a young man screaming, shouting, and writhing were uncomfortable to watch, and got even more disturbing when he blurted out the sins of Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) in the middle of it all.The loss of Shelley's legs
Probably the most horrific event to date happened during Episode 3. Nymphomaniac Shelley (Chloe Sevigny) got on Dr. Arden's (James Cromwell) bad side when she tried to escape the asylum. After subjecting her to some verbal abuse, he attempted to sexually assault her. It all went wrong for him when Shelley laughed hysterically at the size of his equipment, so Arden repaid her by knocking her out and cutting off her legs.Monsignor Timothy Howard is not as innocent as he seems
Sister Jude has nothing but faith in Monsignor Howard (Joseph Fiennes). He gave her a job, took care of her, and together they built a dream of how the asylum should be. It has to be said, the Monsignor seemed like a perfectly respectable man, but during Episode 4, he made a call to Dr. Arden, warning him that the police and Sister Jude are on to his evil schemes. It was shocking to find out that not only was the Monsignor aware of Dr Arden's sick practices, but that he wants to keep on hiding them. The treatment methods
Patients who misbehave in Briarcliff are subjected to some seriously disturbing punishments. Solitary confinement is apparently not sufficient, and we've often seen inmates being whipped by Sister Jude for even the smallest of offenses. Lana (Sarah Paulson) was strapped to a chair and given electric shock treatment, and Kit (Evan Peters) was severely beaten, among other terrible things. The extent of Dr. Arden's evil
It was obvious from the start that something was off with Dr. Arden. However, with every week, more revelations come, revealing just how twisted he really is. Aside from cutting off Shelley's legs, he regularly bumps off the inmates and feeds them to the mysterious creature living in the woods. He's also attacked a prostitute, and during the Second World War, he regularly abused women at Auschwitz. When a show has such a large amount of events thrown in for shock value, it can become difficult to find the real storyline behind it all. Because the season has started off so slowly, it has been a long string of dramatic, horrifying events, and not all fans of the show have been keen. The good news is that we're only four episodes in, so there is still plenty of time for the crazy to slow down, and for the plots to really pick up and become established. On the other hand, if this is what has happened in just four episodes, it's equally possible that it'll only get weirder!
