One of my favorite things about watching Bravo's "Real Housewives" is "Watch What Happens Live." "WWHL" is the after show hosted by executive producer Andy Cohen. All the world's a stage as Andy mixes it up with Bravolebrities, authors, comics and actual celebs. As of this writing, there's actually a turtle named Tramona in the Bravo Clubhouse. When we're really lucky, a cast member takes the stage and attempts to sing and dance.
Any Bravo fan worth her salt knows that many of the cast members have ulterior plans of fame. There's Teresa Giudice's Italian cookbooks, Jill Zarin's shapewear, Dina Manzo's design expertise and of course Bethenny Frankel's Skinny Girl empire. None of this is as fun, however, as the musical 'wives.
Several different "Housewives" from various shows have embarked on musical careers. If you are having a "Housewives" watching party or just yearn to rock out Bravolebrity style, here is a current "Real Housewives of Everywhere" playlist.
Here's how to party like a housewife:
"Fly Above" by Kandi Buruss
We start this playlist on a high note. It can only go downhill from here. Kandi from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" is a Grammy-award winning singer and songwriter. Unlike the other singers on this list, Kandi's musical career wasn't born on Bravo. "Fly Above" is the beautiful song that Kandi wrote after the death of her ex fiancee A.J. who also appeared on the series.
"Tardy for the Party" by Kim Zolciack
Kim is best known is the fun and crazy white chick on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." Her hit song "Tardy for the Party" caused quite a bit of controversy on the show. First, Atlanta castmate Nene Leakes was annoyed that she didn't get to share in Kim's musical fame. Then Kim was accused of not paying producer Kandi for making her a hit. One thing's for sure, this song is annoyingly catchy and kicked off the Bravolebrity musical craze.
"Real Close" by Danielle Staub
Danielle was the villain of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." Then she was run off the show and they all turned on themselves. She stunned everyone before she left when she released a song and could actually sing. "Real Close" was a collaboration between Staub and "lesbian superstar" Lori Michaels. Danielle claimed that the two were dating.
"Money Can't Buy you Class" by Countess Luann
Countess Luann of "The Real Housewives of New York City" is endlessly hilarious. I usually enjoy the characters that everyone else loves to hate. The Countess sang "Money Can't Buy you Class" angering her fellow New Yawkers Ramona Singer and Alex McCord. Alex oddly criticized Luann of being déclassé while revealing to us that she comes from oil wealth. Just dance it out ladies.
"I Am Real" by Simon van Kempen
Simon, Alex's hubbie from "The Real Housewives of New York City" is our first house-husband to embark on a musical career. His song was fun, peppy and courageous. We didn't like him ripping Luann apart for her auto-tune but we loved his performances. Say what you want about Simon but he's a true individual and we'll miss him when "RHONY" returns.
"On Display" by Melissa Gorga
Melissa of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" is like an Italian Barbie doll. She started off the season singing about the "Amazing Grace" that saved a "wench" like her. Husband Joe's luxury basement studio plus the Soul Diggaz resulted in an on "Display" collaboration that prompted even the hard-hearted Joe Giudice to give praise. Go Melissa!
Want More?
Apparently Gretchen Rossi of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" and Michele Salahi formerly of "The Real Housewives of DC" have songs in the ether but we haven't heard those. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for Jenni Pulos of "Flipping Out" to release her rap album. One thing is certain, Bravo keeps us dancing!
