Natalie Portman's 'Jane Got a Gun' Lands Financing, Lynne Ramsay Directing

Lynne Ramsay's Western Jane Got a Gun -- headlining Natalie Portman -- has found financing.

The film, one of the hottest projects shopped to financiers during the Cannes Film Festival in May, is the first title that will be sold by new sales company Scott Pictures International, a joint venture between Scott Steindorff's Scott Pictures and Exclusive Media.

Jane Got a Gun will be introduced to international buyers during the Toronto Film Festival and unofficial market, although sales may not commence until the cast is rounded out.

CAA brokered the deal, and represents Portman and Steindorff. It also is handling domestic rights.

Scott Pictures is an affiliate of Stone Village Productions.

Exclusive Media will handle the international sales and servicing for all Scott Pictures' theatrical film productions under the new SPI label. Scott Pictures intends to turn out three to five movies a year.

In addition to financing the project, Steindorff and banker Peter Nathanial are producing Jane Got a Gun with Portman through her Handsomecharlie Films banner alongside Terry Douglas of 1821 and Chris Coen.

Set to start shooting in early 2013, Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman who must ask an ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang who are out to kill him.
