'Nate Berkus Show' Will End After Season 2

The Nate Berkus Show will end its run in the spring.

While production on the show's current second season will continue as scheduled, producers Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios have opted not to move forward with the daytime talker, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

“After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall," Harpo Studios and Sony Pictures Television said in a joint statement. "We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”

As first reported by Broadcasting & Cable, Nate Berkus has struggled to connect with viewers since its September 2010 bow when it registered a 1.0 rating. More recently, Nate Berkus averaged a 1.1 rating (1.4 million viewers) during the November sweep, making it the 126th-rated syndicated show and the lowest among established talk shows.

One of three spinoffs from Oprah, Nate Berkus is cleared in 95 percent of the country, including NBC-owned stations. Other Oprah spinoffs Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz perform considerably better in comparison.

“I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day,” Berkus said in a statement.

Nate Berkus, distributed by Sony, will air its final episode in May.

The news comes amid a changing daytime landscape will feature daytime talk shows hosted by Survivor's Jeff Probst (from CBS Television Distribution) and Ricki Lake (Twentieth Television) join the offerings next year.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Television has teamed with Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment and Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit for a syndicated daytime talk show to be hosted by Latifah.

In addition, Steve Harvey is developing a "comedy show with talk show elements" with Endemol USA that would be distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution also recently renewed Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show for a second season.

Katie Couric will also host a syndicated talk show for Disney/ABC Television Group.

Alex Ben Block contributed to this report.

I love the Nate show Ihave decorated homes for 35 years and his style, is so refreshing and simple for the first timer or the pro the only reason I turn the TV on in the morning , I will not be watching the the game show or soap opera thats taking his place. A refreshing and unique talent.I hope another network picks him up. Morning TV needs to be more than soaps game shows and talk shows

I like nate,I like his style,I like his ideas, but lets face it,he was boring! I found his humor stilted, his delivery lacking and after 10 minutes I invariably switched it.but that being said, hes a heck of a decorator.

Sad to see the Nate Burkus show cancelled! I love that show and learned so much from it! It's funny, heartwarming, I conncect with it on such a personal level and find Nate to be so sweet and charming! His guest are incredable and the ideas that flow through that show are genius! That is the ONLY show on TV I can't wait to sit down and watch! It's a shame it will be gone soon.

I am incredibly sad to see Nate's show go... I definitely chose to watch it and stopped watching the View to watch him. He and his show is positive, up beat, motivational and inspirational. It had lots of great how to ideas and provided many of the inspirational stories and helping situations people like Ellen and Oprah's shows... I am really somewhat very disappointed that Oprah did not do more to promote the show and he was not given Oprah's time slot instead of against the View after Oprah finished her run. Good luck Nate... I hope I don't miss a single remaining episode. Blessings to you, your cast and your families.

this was one of the decent and clean shows on the air...actually I think the networks are in trouble so they put garbage on the air in hopes of attracting thrill seekers

Daytime TV in general is pathetic. Awful Horrifically bad. And Berkus was one of the better ones.

I love this show. It's fresh, informative and fun. On my NBC station it followed a really boring show-3 "famous" cooks, each making an who cares dish, set to put you to sleep music. How could Nate's show do well following something most people would turn off?

Nate Berkus is to much talk show, I don't care for the cooking and clothing part but it's the crafts, room designs and creative people making something from nothing. To make something for under 20.oo is great these days.I miss Carol and Chris.

What dunces believed that people want a redundant show about interior decorating every day, year after year?

It was a good show with very helpful DIY ideas that were attainable. The problem with it was he spent too much time chatting.
