In the final few Season 2 episodes "NCIS: LA" fans got a chance to see Hetty Lange in action. She burned her bridges and went rogue in Prague. She left her LA team behind; but is she really gone forever? The last time viewers saw Hetty, she'd arrived in Prague and was pretty busy proving just how deadly she could be. Now she's on the loose and packing a gun. Will she return to the "NCIS: LA" team for Season 3? Maybe. Maybe not.
Hetty left without a word of goodbye
Before Hetty reverted to her gun-toting Special Agent ways, she tied up a few loose ends. She passed on a memento to Kensi....that silver make-up brush/weapon was deadly and really cool. She offered Sam and Callen some sage advice and paved the road for Deeks to become an official NCIS agent. Hetty was long gone by the time the agents put two and two together and realized their leader was saying goodbye. She left one more departing gift behind: her replacement, Lauren Hunter. The team didn't like her at all.
Hetty is deadly
Hetty's short stature and little old lady demeanor never fooled anyone. Viewers rarely saw her in action, but they always knew she was one scary lady. She proved it the moment she hit the streets of Prague. Hetty scared two thugs without saying a word. She then walked into a house without knocking and shot two men dead. She's on a mission.
So what is Hetty's mission?
G Callen. That's the short answer. She knows that Prague is the center of his mysterious past. She knows a few other long buried secrets as well... like what the G stands for. Hetty also knows the meaning of that wheel-shaped tattoo she and Callen have in common. That tattoo means they are "familia"..... maybe. It could just be a diversion she's using to convince the head of the Comescu crime family (another pretty scary lady) that Callen is dead. It's all about protecting him.
Did Hetty really get shot?
The Hetty cliffhanger didn't mysteriously resolve itself over the summer. She's still in the middle of a mess. Viewers who saw the Season 3 sneak peak already know the team will begin the new season still in Prague. A quick snippet of a scene ended with a gunshot and flashed to Hetty slumped over a table. Does that mean she really took a bullet or was that scene simply an elaborate teaser?
The bad news is that Hetty most likely did get shot. That's the logical conclusion. The good news is that she is still part of the show, but for how long?
