The Season 9 finale of "NCIS" left viewers in a lurch about the fate of Ducky (David McCallum). Jonathan Cole (Scott Wolf) tried to diffuse a car bomb as it blew into the side of the NCIS headquarters building, killing Cole and leaving the fate of everyone on the team unknown. Ducky responded to news of the event by having a heart attack as he waited on the gorgeous beach that was about to serve as the backdrop for Jimmy's (Brian Dietzen) wedding.
No need to worry, fans! All the main characters will be back for Season 10. The bomb blast really has more of an emotional impact than a physical one, except for Ducky. Ducky's heart attack will force him to hand the reins over to Jimmy for awhile, until he can get his game back.
The bomb blast also left Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) stuck in an elevator. This was by design! The pair (aka "Tiva") will connect on a deeper emotional level. For one of the most entertaining relationships on television, another layer of complexity will be welcome. Don't expect the relationship to take a romantic turn though because Tony may find new love this season!
During an interview with executive producer Gary Glasberg, Entertainment Weekly learned that the crime revolving around the cliffhanger will be resolved quickly, then the series will go back to self-contained episodes. Does this mean Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the team will capture villain Harper Dearing (Richard Schiff), who's responsible for the terrorist act against NCIS, in the season premiere? Tune in to find out.
Watch the Season 10 premiere episode "Extreme Prejudice" on Tuesday, 9/25 at 8PM ET on CBS.
