It was only a matter of time before intimacy became a story on "The Neighbors." Obviously, the aliens express love in a manner that is nothing like the method used by humans. That sets up some unique situations for the adults on the show, and fans were treated to some of the funniest moments on the show so far. Of course, the grownups aren't the only ones that are struggling with intimacy. Teenagers Reggie and Amber are also facing their own issues in this love-themed episode. The opening
It's the 17th anniversary for the Weavers, but they're not making a huge deal out of it. They plan to simply get a frozen pizza for the family but are sidetracked when the power keeps going out. It turns out that the aliens are starting their mating season, and it's a very public display. As if that isn't uncomfortable enough, it's the first mating season for Reggie Jackson. The Weavers worry that he might make a move on Amber, which prompts them to give her the sex talk. She already knows everything but ensures them that she wouldn't mate with an alien.Intimacy for the Weavers
Debbie decides to ask Jackie about the intensity of alien mating season. Jackie says that the entire experience is spiritual, and that the aliens share an emotional connection. Seeing the appeal in that, Debbie tries to get Marty to engage in something more meaningful. She wants to take a romantic bath with Marty, but he says that he'd rather watch TV. An upset Debbie leaves in frustration, and Marty realizes that he did something wrong. He seeks romantic advice from Larry, who shows him a bizarre instructional video from his home planet.When Debbie returns home, Marty sets up a romantic scenario and tells Debbie that he is ready for romantic talk. However, the Weavers find themselves talking about things like the home budget. Debbie says that she might have been stirring a pot with nothing in it, but she eventually admits that Marty's abilities as a dad are sexy enough for her. He tells her he isn't good with words, but loves her more than anything.
Jackie and Larry try something new
The information exchange is mutual, and Jackie is intrigued by Debbie's description of human intimacy. She attempts to seduce Larry by wearing lingerie and touching him. Larry views this as very weird and says that he has no intentions of touching her. After his talk with Marty, Larry realizes that he needs to please his wife, as well. He even tries to seduce Jackie by wearing the same lingerie that she had worn earlier. Things don't go well for them, and they arrive at the Weavers to see what they are doing wrong. Eventually, they get the message when they see the Weavers kiss.Amber's dream boy
Amber finally gets asked about by the boy she likes, and she attends his party with Reggie Jackson. However, the pressure gets to her when it seems evident that he wants to have sex. She tells Reggie to fake an emergency to get her out of it, and he decides to tell the parents. They arrive on the scene in their bathrobes and completely embarrass Amber. However, Marty saves the day by giving her some nice fatherly advice. She appreciates what he says and gives her dad a kiss on the cheek. At the end of the episode, she tells Reggie that she appreciates his help. That prompts him to share an emotional connection with Amber, leading to a power outage.
