Nolte will play a stubborn local business owner in the seaside town where a boy is murdered. He adds more thespian firepower to a cast that includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver, Michael Pena, Kevin Rankin, Virginia Kull and Kevin Zegers.
“Gracepoint” marks Nolte’s first TV series gig since the demise of “Luck,” the HBO drama about horse racing that was canceled in 2012 after the three horses died during production.
Nolte’s career took off with his role in the 1976 TV miniseries “Rich Man, Poor Man.” He’s concentrated on features for the past few decades, including recent appearances in “Gangster Squad” and “The Company You Keep.” Upcoming projects for the CAA-repped vet include indie thriller “Return to Sender” and a co-starring berth with Robert Redford in the Larry Charles-helmed ”A Walk in the Woods.”
“Broadchurch” has made numerous TV watchers’ top 10 lists this year thanks to its exposure on BBC America. Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein will serve as showrunners of “Gracepoint.” “Broadchurch” creator Chris Chibnall wrote the first episode, which will be directed by “Broadchurch” alum James Strong.
Production is set to begin in January. Futterman, Epstein and Chibnall exec produce with Shine America’s Carolyn Bernstein and Jane Featherstone of Shine Group banner Kudos.
