With Season 8 of "The Office'" just weeks away, the producers have announced another surprise that will see one of the shows most loved characters have some dirt revealed about him. Thanks to guest star appearances by superstars Stephen Collins ("7th Heaven," "No Ordinary Family") and Dee Wallace ("ET," "Sons & Daughters"), fans of "The Office" will get to meet the parents of Andy Bernard (Ed Helms), AKA the Nard Dog.
Finally, fans everywhere get to see who the Nard Dog takes after. According to online sources, the episode will go one of two ways. Either Andy's parents will be extremely disappointed in the life he has forged for himself after his years at Cornell or they will be the type who thinks their son can do no wrong. Really, this is the normal reaction of almost all parents, so no surprise here.
However, it may be that the producers and writers take a different approach. An easy scenario to see unfold would be having one of Andy's parents as proud as can be while one is very disapproving. If this were to play out it would likely be Andy's mom who babies him and his dad who is the one filled with disappointment. This situation would likely also take the path of Andy simply not caring about his mother's adoring approval as he seems like one of those guys who is only out to make dad proud.
For Collins, the show is a reunion of sorts. Back in 1989 he worked with Rainn Wilson (Dwight) on his first professional acting job. Collins has even seen fit to Tweet about his guest star spot talking about how much fun the experience and the cast have been.
There has been no official date set yet for "The Office" episode that will feature Collins and Wallace, but the show will definitely be a part of Season 8. For the producers and the writers, this move represents yet another home run that is sure to get people watching. After all, it's all about the eyeballs on the show and with the exit of Steve Carell from the cast lineup, "The Office" higher ups can ill afford to pull any punches.
So get ready Office fans. All your questions about the one and only Nard Dog will shortly be answered. Best of all, they will be answered in a way that only "The Office" can answer them, which is sure to leave everyone in stitches.
