While it has already been reported that Season 8 of "The Office" will introduce Stephen Collins ("7th Heaven," "No Ordinary Family") and Dee Wallace ("ET," "Sons & Daughters") as the parents of Andy Bernard (Ed Helms), AKA the Nard Dog, the new news is that Andy's brother will also make an appearance. The part of the younger 'Nard' will be played by none other than Josh Groban.
According to an article by E! Online, the amazing voice talent will bring his acting talents to "The Office" for a single show appearance with both Collins and Wallace. This is not Groban's first attempt at sitcoms and he actually spent some time on the ever popular show "Glee" last season. So, the talented Groban is sure to bring some great things to "The Office" table.
This begs the question as to what type of younger brother will he be? Will he be the type that is spoiled by the parents and only pretends to like his older brother while secretly being jealous? Or, will he be the little brother who has it all. The kind of younger brother who has already achieved more than Andy could ever hope to. Of course, if he is the over achiever, Andy's parents will probably not let him forget about it.
Really this whole Bernard family reunion of sorts is just what fans of "The Office" need as a distraction. A distraction from the fact that Steve Carell is gone and won't be back, at least anytime soon. In essence, it gives the fans something to look forward to as nobody really knows how the whole thing will turn out.
One thing that is almost certain; the whole thing will be hilarious. With some of arguably the best writers in the industry, "The Office" is poised for another great season despite losing their most popular character. They have at least shown that they are not afraid to pull out all the stops and have made every effort to ensure a fantastic season once again.
So, with only one more week to go until the start of Season 8 fans can almost release their breath. A breath that they have taken in and held since the last episode of Season 7. "The Office" is almost back and it is coming back in a big time fashion.
