Fans of "The Office" will have a new cast member to welcome in Season 8; sort of. It seems that Jenna Fischer, the actress who plays Pam (Beesly) Halpert, is pregnant in real life and instead of trying to cover up that fact, the executives of "The Office" have decided to just go with it.
So, Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam will now have their second child on the way and this will be evident as soon as Season 8 starts up. According to executives of the show, Pam will be about six months along when the new season starts so fans won't have to wait too long for the new little bundle of joy to come.
The pregnancy sets up all sorts of fun for the writers of the show and one of the executives actually shed some light on what fans could expect in the upcoming season. While the new baby won't pose major problems for 'The Office' couple, it will pose small ones. Expect to see Jim not so willing to go home some nights.
Executives also killed the hope that there would be another big to do when the baby is born. Unlike with the Halpert's first child, this time there will supposedly be no special episode when the child arrives. However, you can bet that the genius writers will come up with all sorts of ways in which to incorporate the new addition.
Fans can only hope for another episode that features the baby getting Christened at a church, only to have Dwight (Rainn Wilson) standing at the front door handing out his business cards and saying, "For all your paper and printing needs." While that ship has sailed and the writers will not likely go for the same gag twice, fans can still expect some magic.
While there is no word on how long Pam will be out once she has the baby, she will likely stay on at least in voice. Images of Jim taking yet another phone call from Pam who is temporarily stuck at home with two kids pops into mind. Maybe Uncle Dwight will even have a few words of advice for the happy parents.
Ultimately, the new baby may not have been designed by the show, but it will certainly be a welcomed addition. While Jenna Fischer may not have planned it, she certainly gave an additional bullet to the writers of the show to load into their already talented comedy guns.
