'The Office': Saying Goodbye to Michael Scott

As "The Office" gears up to lose Michael Scott (Steve Carell) ratings remain high with the show coming in 2nd place, according to Nielsen, for the time slot behind "Grey's Anatomy." Viewership is likely to increase in April with the guest appearance of Will Ferrell and the "Goodbye, Michael" episodes one and two.

If you have seen the most recent episode you know that Michael proposed to Holly ( Amy Ryan) in a manner appropriate only to "The Office." A meeting was held in which many of the staff asked Holly to marry them, followed by Michael's proposal. My guess, a couple of months ago, was right. Holly is the reason Michael is leaving Scranton. Holly and Michael will get married and move to Colorado to take care of her ailing father.

It's hard to watch Carell leave, but Holly is such a nuisance that I'm glad she is leaving. She wouldn't be so annoying if her character were not so much like a female Michael Scott.

The next big thing we have to look forward to is "Training Day " on April 14, featuring Will Ferrell. Ferrell is one of the few comedians who can come in with a demeanor like Michael Scott's and fit in the show with more than a cameo appearance. In the promo Ferrell is introduced as the new manager, but reports have long confirmed that Ferrell's will be a guest appearance over several episodes. He has said he wanted to be a part of Carell leaving the show and this is how the writers have chosen to incorporate him. We still don't know who will be playing the boss in the long run, but for now, get ready to meet Deangelo Vickers (Ferrell).
