The new and final season of "The Office" begins on Thursday, September 20. Once again, "The Office" is in for some changes in Season 9. Mindy Kaling and James Spader are gone, and stars like Rainn Wilson and Ed Helms could be in for fewer appearances. However, these changes shouldn't be taken as a sign that the ninth season of the show won't be a good one. As the last season premiere approaches, it's a good time to get caught up on where we last left the main characters. Here is a look back at where we last saw the major players on "The Office," and where they figure to start when the season begins.
Andy
After being squeezed out of his job by Nellie, Andy managed to get former Dunder-Mifflin boss David Wallace in his corner. With David's takeover of the company, Andy managed to wiggle his way back into the job. However, he decided to reverse his plan to fire Nellie and retain her in a vague position. Of course, his rivalry with Nellie is far from over. When the new season begins, Andy will be fresh off of a management training program. It seems he has his sights set on seeking revenge against his nemesis. As for his relationship with Erin, it's anyone's guess. Things seemed to be going well for the couple at the end of Season 8, but a new employee is about to show some interest in the charming receptionist. It looks like it will be another tough year for the boss.Jim and Pam
The top couple in Scranton welcomed a second child this past season, but it was far from a smooth ride. Their marriage was tested when co-worker Cathy tried to put the moves on Jim. He didn't do anything wrong, but there were signs that their marriage isn't as dreamy as everyone might think. They will likely take a closer look at their union during the second episode of the upcoming season when Roy, Pam's ex-flame and Jim's chief romantic rival, returns for an episode centered on his wedding. It looks like his toast will force the Halperts into uncomfortable territory. This could mean that there are more potential conflicts ahead for the pair.Dwight
This is going to be a huge season for Dwight. When we last saw him, he was on a mission to prove that he is the real father of Angela's baby. The last image of Dwight from the eighth season came when he made out with Angela. This moment took place in the waiting room while the two were waiting for the results of the paternity test. All signs point to Dwight being the child's father, and that should be an interesting angle in Season 9. Of course, the fate of Dwight in the office is also at play. A new series based on his life at the farm is in the works, and that could mean that he gives up his current position at some point before the end. With that in mind, the storylines involving Dwight might start fast this season.
