One Life to Live and All My Children Not Heading Online

Sorry, soap fans: All My Children and One Life to Live aren't heading online after all.

Prospect Park, the company behind the online productions of both soaps, is not able to support the Online Network, which would have streamed AMC and OLTL, after facing both financial and logistical problems.

Is All My Children still headed for the web?

"After five months of negotiations with various guilds, hundreds of presentations to potential financial and technology partners, and a hope that we could pioneer a new network for the future, it is with great disappointment that we are suspending our aspirations to revive One Life to Live and All My Children via online distribution," said Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz in a statement. "It is now becoming clear that mounting issues make our ability to meet our deadlines to get OLTL on the air in a reasonable time period following its January 13, 2012 ABC finale impossible," the statement continues.

The company had been working out deals with the appropriate guilds and unions, though negotiations were becoming increasingly difficult as the company was expected to uphold broadcast standards.

Earlier this month, plans for All My Children were put on hold indefinitely because One Life to Live had been more successful in re-signing current cast members — 13 so far — though any deals made were contingent on union clearances, which were not obtained. For One Life to Live to launch in early 2012, the writers would have already needed to be working on the show, but Prospect Park had yet to strike a deal with the WGA.

All My Children online put on hold — is Susan Lucci to blame?

"We believe we exhausted all reasonable options apparent to us, but despite enormous personal, as well as financial cost to ourselves, we failed to find a solution...While we narrowed in on a financial infrastructure, the contractual demands of the guilds, which regulate our industry, coupled with the program's inherent economic challenges ultimately led to this final decision," the statement continues. "In the end, the constraints of the current marketplace, including the evolution and impact of new media on our industry simply proved too great a match for even our passion."

Will you miss One Life to Live and All My Children?

The replacements for All My Children and One Life to Live are not good enough for me to watch. I think the Soaps were a great way to escape. I do not need more reality TV.

I don't have a reason at all to watch ABC now. Of course we miss our soaps. Where in the hel_ did they get their ratings info??? I started watching AMC and OLTL 40 years ago. I retired from my job earlier this year and was really looking forward to being able to watch them every day. So much for that! You can take The Chew and stick it!!!

To cancel shows that people have watched for years is just dumb and to replace it with shows like the chew is dumber. Who watches a bunch of men sticking their fingers in the food and licking them, go to another pot and do the same thing intertaining? I watched two shows and that was it for me. It is the worse cooking show on TV and there are sooo many. I wonder how many hairs that blond bimbo has cooked up in her food and the only thing that weird looking woman could cook would be a witches brew? Holy Cow. with a face like hers she had to have guts to go on TV. Dump all the cooking shows and bring back the soaps!

It really irritates me that All My Children and One Life to Live have been cancelled and removed from ABC Daytime. I have watched these 2 soaps for 20 plus years and enjoyed various characters grow up on the shows. These are now being replaced by trash talk shows and various game shows that do nothing to instill any creativity.

no more ABC or DISNEY for my family. the only way these companies could ever hope to fix daytime tv is to FIRE BRIAN FRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I,too am done with ABC. This is the most short-sighted programming I've ever experienced. I will very much miss what daytime TV used to be. If I couldn't watch during the day, I'd DVR it for night and would watch it alongside other evening programming. Now, forget it. If they don't need me during the day, they don't need me at night. I'll take my viewing elsewhere (Take note, advertisers! Spend those advertising $$ on cable channels!) What I would have hoped to happen: AMC and OLTL would have been picked up by the O Network. It could use some original programming, no?

Here's an idea: whatever time OLTL is finished in your time zone call your local ABC affiliate and let them know that you won't be watching their station again. Follow that with a call to the ABC network and let them know you're done with them. Send emails too. It would be a way of letting them realize how many people this cancellation has effected and how much this show is loved. Just a thought. Anyone else?

Do the networks really think viewers will watch whatever they decide to put on the air? I'm an AMC/OTL fan from way back. I refuse to watch replacement shows like "The Chew"? or whatever that other one is that will start next week.

All my Children and now One life to live....what is wrong with ABC???? If I wanted to watch food programs I would go to the food network. You have lost another fan. And for General Hospital.. well that should be called the "Sonny Corenthos Show"'. They lost me years ago. I like love in the afternoon, not mobsters and shoot em ups!!!
