Just a few days after the Vatican named a new Pope, The Vatican has done the same.
The Showtime drama pilot has cast Bruno Ganz as the fictional head of the Catholic Church, our sister site Deadline reports.
The project, directed by Ridley Scott and penned by Paul Attanasio (House), is a provocative contemporary genre thriller about spirituality, power and politics – set against the modern-day political machinations within the Catholic Church.
Ganz has appeared in the films The Reader, Unknown and Wings of Desire.
