Pilot Scoop: Carla Gugino Joins ABC's David Shore-Produced Legal Drama Doubt

Erstwhile Political Animal Carla Gugino has landed the female lead in Doubt, ABC’s legal drama pilot from House creator David Shore, TVLine has learned.

Additionally, John Pankow (Mad About You, Episodes) has joined the cast in a co-starring role.

The potential series centers around Vincent (Tropic Thunder‘s Steve Coogan), a former cop-turned-charmingly low-rent lawyer who uses his street smarts and cunning to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife.

Gugino will play said ex-wife Linda, a no-nonsense and extremely competent D.A. who has little patience for courtroom antics, especially when it involves her impulsive former spouse. She knows how to push his buttons both in the court and the bedroom (yes, despite their separation, they still hook up occasionally for torrid sex.)

Pankow, meanwhile, will play an old-school attorney who rents space in Vince’s office and serves as a surrogate father to him.

The cast also includes Sons of Anarchy‘s Rockmond Dunbar as Vincent’s former partner on the force, and Heroes‘ Greg Grunberg as Vince’s developmentally disabled by high-functioning older brother Mark.
