The project is an adaptation of the Danish series of the same name. The actress will play a private school teacher who tries to balance raising her own kids with handling the children and parents she deals with at work.

Grey's Anatomy's Krista Vernoff will write and executive-produce alongside Miguel Arteta, who will direct the pilot, Mikkel Bondesen (The Killing), Henrik Bastin (My Generation) and Kristen Campo (The Killing).

Rita is one of Bravo's first two scripted projects in development.
