    Pilot Season: Ari Graynor to Play the Cameron Diaz Role in Bad Teacher

    CBS' Bad Teacher adaptation has found its Cameron Diaz: Ari Graynor will play the titular role in the comedy pilot, TVGuide.com has learned.

    Based on the Diaz film, the pilot stars Graynor as Meredith Davis, an unapologetic trophy wife. But when her husband leaves her without a dime, she gets a job teaching after hearing that there are a lot of rich single dads at a local middle school. (David Alan Grier plays the principal.)

    Graynor has appeared in the films Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Whip It and Celeste and Jesse Forever, and is known for small but important roles on The Sopranos and Fringe.

    Happy Endings scribe Hilary Winston will write and executive-produce the project with Bad Teacher producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky.
