Police: Jackass' Ryan Dunn Was Drunk at Time of Fatal Crash
star had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit at the time of his fatal car crash, reports.
Dunn's blood-alcohol level was 0.196 percent at the time of the early Monday crash in Pennsylvania, according to a toxicology report obtained by the AP. The legal limit for drivers in the state is .08.
Police say Dunn's Porsche may have been traveling as fast as 140 mph in a 55 mph zone when it struck a tree and burst into flames. The crash killed both Dunn, 34, and his passenger, Jackass production assistant Zachary Hartwell, 30.
The toxicology report confirms speculation that Dunn had been drinking hours before the crash. Dunn shared a photo on Tumblr of him drinking with friends at a West Chester bar. The photo has since been removed.
The manager of the bar, Frank Herron, said Dunn was not visibility intoxicated at any point during the night and that surveillance footage shown to the police also proved that. "He spoke clearly. He walked clearly. He came in hop, skip, jumping. He left hop, skip, jumping," Herron told the AP. "If these results are true, I'm shocked at it. We were very confident that he had not had that much." Herron said the bar was cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
Dunn was previously charged with driving under the influence in April 2005 after crashing his car approximately two miles from the site of Monday's accident, according to court documents. Since 1998, he was also cited several times for speeding.
