'Pretty Little Liars' Season 3 Premiere Recap: Is Wren on the 'A' Team?

"Pretty Little Liars" came back for its third season with a huge bang! The girls as we knew them don't entirely exist. Aria (Lucy Hale) is having nightmares and panic attacks, and Emily (Shay Mitchell) is drunk all the time. Only Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are acting normal, but even they are a little spooked. With Mona (Janel Parrish) locked up, they thought their worries were over, but there is a new enemy in town, and this one makes Mona look like an amateur. While the possibilities are endless, there is one character who may have been overlooked. Let's take a look at the idea that Wren (Julian Morris) might be their new tormentor.

    He has links to Melissa.

Wren entered Rosewood as Melissa's (Torrey DeVitto) fiance, but that soon went wrong when she caught him kissing Spencer. The thing is, Wren didn't just disappear like the other guys usually do. He has been back and forth the whole time, most interestingly, when Melissa asked him for help to get medication to Ian (Ryan Merriman). Wren was also the person who drove Melissa to Ian the night she discovered his body. We know that Melissa is not as innocent as she first appeared, so it is very possible that she managed to persuade Wren to help her in her mission to drive the pretty little liars crazy.

    He stays close to Spencer.

Wren and Spencer always had a strong chemistry, but that doesn't mean Wren hasn't used it to his advantage. He has conveniently popped up whenever something crazy was happening with "A" to offer Spencer a shoulder to cry on. Most times, she took it. Perhaps the reason he has stayed so close to Spencer is not out of love, but to keep tabs on her, and delve further into her mind.

He's working at the secure facility.

This is where things really get interesting. Wren is a doctor at Rosewood Hospital, but in Season 3, Episode 1, he showed up at the secure facility where Mona is being held. He told Hanna he volunteers there, but why? If he is really only a volunteer, why was he the one who called Hanna to tell her her visits are "helping" Mona? And why did he have to snoop through the files to get her number? If she was genuinely helping Mona, surely the staff at the facility would have contacted Hanna themselves? There is definitely something weird going on.

Although Wren has seemed nothing but honest so far, his presence at the facility, and his behavior have thrown a huge question mark over his motives. Hopefully, this is merely a red herring, but if not, Spencer is in for a big surprise.
