Project Runway Launches 10th Season with Live Fashion Show

New York City fans of Project Runway got a treat on June 15 as the reality showed kick off its 10th season with its first runway challenge in Times Square.

The 16 contestants each had to create two complimentary outfits. One ensemble was designed at home; the other created at Parsons The New School for Design in one day with only $100.

Host Heidi Klum started off the show with style as she greeted the 16 designers with champagne. With raised glasses, Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, and judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors praised the show and contestants and marveled at Project Runway's 10 years of success. Klum was especially excited to be holding a challenge in the heart of New York City that fans could attend. "It has been a dream of mine to do this," she said. "I've been nagging on about it for the last few years, and it finally happened. We're all very, very proud."

Guest judges for the challenge were designer Patricia Field and actress Lauren Graham of NBC's Parenthood. "I'm a giant fan," Graham said. "I've seen every episode and I just think it's such a wonderful show."

Project Runway premieres July 19 on Lifetime.
