Ratings: Community Grows in Return; Scandal Ties High

Good news, Human Beings! Community went up — just a tick, but still — in its long-awaited Season 4 return.

Thursday's premiere drew 4 million viewers and a 1.8 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, up a tenth from last season's premiere and up five-tenths from the Season 3 finale. That's also higher than the dearly departed 30 Rock's average in the timeslot and is Community's best performance since March 15, when it returned from a lengthy midseason hiatus.

    Which canceled show should return?

Community boosted Parks and Recreation (3.8 million, 2.0) to a season high and The Office (4.2 million, 2.1) rising two-tenths. 1600 Penn (2.8 million, 1.1) and Do No Harm (2.2 million, 0.7), however, both dropped, with the latter plummeting 22 percent.

CBS won the night, led by The Big Bang Theory (18.8 million, 6.1), which was up 13 percent. Airing its first episode since its post-Super Bowl show, Elementary (11 million, 2.3) rose a tenth.

Big Bang beat American Idol (13.1 million, 4.1) by a full two points in the demo, as the Fox series fell four-tenths. Glee (6 million, 2.2) inched up a tenth.

On ABC, Grey's Anatomy (8.8 million, 3.1) was up 11 percent and Scandal (8 million, 2.8) tied a series high.
