The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, but ABC scored. Last night’s game posted an 11.8 national overnight rating, the highest ever for a Finals Game 1, surpassing a 2004 matchup between the Detroit Pistons and LA Lakers. Leading in the night for ABC, Jimmy Kimmel Live (2.2/7) at 8 PM on ABC was flat with its performance last year as was the 8:30 PM live NBA Countdown (2.8/8). The NBA Finals Game 1 (5.6/15) was up 2% from last year’s fast national of 5.5. The game drew 13.19 million total viewers based on preliminary figures that will likely change later today. ABC won the night in viewers and adults 18-49.
At 8 PM on NBC, American Ninja Warrior (1.6/5) fell 27% from last week’s Monday broadcast, resulting in the show’s lowest rating to date. America’s Got Talent (3.0/8) followed and was down 14% from last week for its lowest-rated Tuesday airing this season. Reality series Love In The Wild (1.6/4) was flat with its premiere last week. On Fox, Hell’s Kitchen (2.1/7) was about the same as last week’s episode. The heat wasn’t as hot on MasterChef (2.1/6), which slipped 5% from last week. CBS had a night of repeats.
