Ratings: Sound of Music Live! Soars for NBC

NBC has a lot to sing about: The Sound of Music Live! delivered massive numbers Thursday night.

The three-hour live production drew 18.5 million viewers and a 4.6 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, making it the night's most-watched program and posting NBC's best Thursday demo rating since ER's series finale in April 2009. In terms of viewership, it was NBC's best Thursday average since Frasier's series finale in May 2004.

Sound of Music also tied The Big Bang Theory (15.3 million, 4.6) in the demo as the highest-rated show of the night.

Big Bang led CBS to second place. The rest of the network's shows were down, except for Two and a Half Men (8.3 million, 2.3), which grew two tenths, and Elementary (8.2 million, 1.8), which was flat.

On ABC, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland (3.7 million, 0.9) andScandal (8.6 million, 3.1) both grew, while Grey's Anatomy (7.5 million, 2.4) hit a series low. On Fox, The X Factor (4.8 million, 1.3) and Glee (3.2 million, 1.1) both improved a few tenths. The CW's The Vampire Diaries (2.3 million, 1.0) and Reign (1.7 million, 0.6) both dipped.
