Ratings: Survivor Finale Rises; Bachelorette Wedding Bombs

Getting a big boost from football, the Survivor: Philippines finale improved on last season's closer on Sunday, while few attended Ashley and JP's Bachelorette wedding.

Survivor scored 11.1 million viewers and a 3.2 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic. While that's better than the spring season's numbers, it was down eight-tenths from last fall's finale. The episode was skewed by football, as well as President Obama's Newtown vigil address, which was carried by all the networks in the 8:30 half-hour.

NBC topped the night with Sunday Night Football (16.7 million, 6.2) once again. On ABC, The Bachelorette: Ashley and JP's Wedding drew a meek 3.5 million viewers and a 0.9.

Sunday was also a good night for Showtime's season finale, which earned series highs for both Dexter and Homeland. Dexter broke the record for most total viewers for the night for a Showtime original series with 3.43 million viewers. Homeland grabbed 2.7 million viewers for the evening.
