    Ratings: So You Think You Can Dance Returns Up and Down, Duets Opens OK, Rookie Blue Solid

    The Season 9 premiere of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance flitted away with the demo win this Thursday night, averaging a 2.4 while drawing 6.23 million total viewers.

    Those numbers mark drops of 27 and 33 percent from the Season 8 opener, yet are up from last summer’s finale.

    ABC’s Duets debuted to 6.7 million total viewers — besting SYTYCD — while scoring a 1.7 demo rating, down 8 and 26 percent from the network’s year-ago combo of Wipeout and Expedition: Impossible.

    Thursday’s other premiere, ABC’s Rookie Blue, drew 6 mil — its largest audience since August 2010 — and a 1.4 (down two tenths from last year’s opener).

    NBC’s Awake (2.85 mil/0.9) finished its run on a high note, up 36 and 29 percent opposite Rookie Blue and a Mentalist rerun.
