The X Factor Season 2 finale topped Thursday, but dropped significantly from last year.

The two-hour closer averaged 9.6 million viewers and a 3.1 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, down 18 percent from the inaugural finale last December. However, the Fox series posted its best numbers in two months.
