The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" are back! These Georgia peaches are third only to the fabulous girls in Beverly Hills and New Jersey for fun and drama. This season promises new "housewives," titillating storylines, plenty of aspirational opulence, and enough hot messiness to keep us coming back for more. The Season 5 cast includes Kandi Burruss, Nene Leakes, Phaedra Parks, Kim Zolciak, Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore, and Porsha Stewart.
That's right! It's a new season of Smalls vs. Talls. Some changes are obvious. Sheree Whitfield is gone. Bravo wanted to bring new energy to the show, and we can't blame them.
It may be too late to vote, but here's my two cents about what fans hope to see from the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" this season.
"RHOA" wishlist :
The new girls
Kenya and Porsha are the two new divas. Kenya is a former Miss USA from Detroit, Michigan. Porsha is an actual housewife, probably one of the very few from any of the franchises! According to her bio, she "was born and raised into a prominent family in Atlanta and is the granddaughter of Civil Rights leader and philanthropist, Rev. Hosea Williams." In addition, she is married to a former NFL player named Kordell Stewart.
Of course, the two waste no time forming alliances and creating fights. Kenya is already at odds with the show's other resident model, Cynthia Bailey. We've always been Kenya fans and the woman is drop dead gorgeous. However, if her behavior so far on the show is any indication of her personality, it's easy to be thoroughly disgusted. Here's hoping for Kenya's sake that she doesn't pull a Marlo Hampton and behave in such an ugly manner that she's never heard from again.
Watching Nene and Kim used to be the highlight of the show, then Nene turned acidic and bitter. This year, the star has a bubbly new attitude (her old attitude), and we love it! If Bravo reportedly paid us a million dollars to be ourselves, we'd be quite peppy, too. Last episode, the new Nene reached out to Kim and was already shot down.
The Nene and Cynthia pairing doesn't quite compare, so what other BFFs do we want to see? Kandi and Phaedra are a hoot. Give them a friend contract. They are both powerful and successful women with a bit of sass and class. Let's see more of them, not necessarily always attached to a conversation about a "donkey booty." Kim and Sweetie are also fun to watch, although it's a mismatched Lucy and Ethel pairing.
Bravo's Atlanta special, "Hair Stylists Tell All," was campy and hilarious. Lawrence and Derek J were funny and quick with the quips and gossip. We want more, dahling. The two dished on everything from the wigs, weaves, and extensions to the show's "he said, she said" moments. We all know that the hairdressers always know the inside scoop.
What do you want to see this season? Sound off!
