Reasons Carly and Shawn Should Hook Up on 'General Hospital'

Fans of "General Hospital" have loved the character of Carly for more than a decade. Her attitude, her crazy antics, and her love for her children are just some of what makes her an appealing fixture on the show. Throughout the years, Carly has been bounced from man to man. Most of them have had ties to the mob. Her last husband is still "missing" but presumed dead, even though viewers have seen him alive. In the past few weeks, it has been looking more and more like the writers are aiming for a Carly/Shawn pairing. These are some reasons why the idea is brilliant.

    The chemistry is there

Laura Wright hasn't always had chemistry with the men they have paired her with. Sean Blakemore plays Shawn. The chemistry they have is undeniable and makes for great potential leading to a fan favorite couple. The way he keeps his past mysterious keeps Carly coming back for more. When they were locked in the panic room in Sonny's warehouse, it seemed like they were really feeling the sexual tension. This could be Daytime Emmy gold for "General Hospital."

    Carly needs a good man

While Shawn has his flaws, he is much better than the slew of men she has had before him. He proved he would do whatever it took to protect her kids by saving both Josslyn and Michael on separate occasions. He is true to his word, which was proven when he turned and walked away from Theo after he realized the plan was to kidnap Brenda. He helped Molly Davis through her PTSD and was there for her during Kristina's surgery.

    It is time for diversity

The other two ABC soaps have been canceled and now it is time for "General Hospital" to step up. The Ward family has been off the air for a while. An interracial relationship is something that should have happened ages ago. It is 2011, and these things happen in the real world. While Ethan and Maya were a good couple, they didn't get much screen time. Carly and Shawn are something the fans want and need.

When Shawn arrived on the "General Hospital" canvas, fans knew he had amazing potential. Being an ex-marine helps with his ability to guard Carly and still help Jason and Sonny. If the writers invest in this couple, there is definitely a future and fan base out there for it.
